The Band ------------------------ Bio <<
|
"...Paul (or Grover as we call him) is a great guitar player and comes from a very musical background. I think all of the Cotmans - and there are a lot of them! - are musicians. His brother Peter has helped us out on occasion when we were in need of a guitar player. Paul has been a great addition to the band for various reasons; his energetic presence on stage is a real joy to watch (for the band and the audience), his creative musical style adds a unique flair to the tunes, and maybe most importantly (ha ha!), he always brings a whack of people to the gigs!..."

"...When Brian joined the band he filled a real hole - basically because we didn't have a bass player at the time. Although a guitar player at heart, Brian picked up the bass and knocked our socks off. Then he started singing back-ups, and well, hey...the songs never sounded better. We affectionately refer to Brian as "Brain" since he is a PhD in neuroscience, and he fills his days working in a lab at Queen's University . Brian has played in bands in Newfoundland (his home province), Germany and now in Kingston..."

"...The "young gun" of the group, Joe has had a ton of experience playing in bands, namely "Colour" and more recently Chris Koster's "The Lonely". When Joe started jamming with us he said he wasn't really a lead guitar player, but more of a rhythm guy. Well, as he has settled into the group we find he is fast becoming the "go-to guy" when when it comes to lead work. He's got this little Marshall amp that really kicks and has amazing tone - a real steal at 50 bucks. Joe has had a lot of tunes to learn in a really short time and has done a great job of it..."

"...I always say that if you surround yourself with talented, like-minded people, you'll get where you want to go faster. So that's what I've been trying to do with this group, and I think I have succeeded. Hell, I don't even play guitar anymore when we play gigs...come to think of it, I'm almost working myself out of a job...but hey, I've got a great music studio and that's where we practice, so I think I'm safe for a while..."

"...Craig and I have been playing music together for quite a long time now and have become great friends. Together, we have sort of been the common denominator over the past 5 years, creating a lot of the songs together in free jams. He knows so much about music and musical styles. Craig is a great drummer who brings creative beats to the table, which really elevate the songs. He always has a smile on his face when we're playing, and that translates into a real positive energy, which is contagious within the band and throughout the audience..."
