"...I was fooling around with a riff that I thought at the time was very inspired by The Edge from U2 - not that I have anywhere near his calibre of imagination or ability, but I find his style so inspiring - anyway I created a song around it and put it down as a demo. The demo turned out to be a real drawn out power ballad type song, with real overdriven guitar phrases throughout but especially at the end, when you're hit by a brick wall of distortion for 2 minutes. In the studio we ended up rearranging it somewhat, gave it a bit more of an organic feel, sped it up some...and then there was just some of that magic studio stuff that you capture - "moments in time", which are very euphoric moments. In the end it's much more enjoyable to listen to...and shorter...."
