"...This was my stab at a "political song", although I'm not a political type person at all...and it doesn't come across too strongly as a protest song or anything, which is good, because it's not meant to be a protest song, it just hints at things, especially in the second verse...I think it more just comes across as a rockin' tune. It was around the time when there was a big movement by all these big music stars to try to get W to get America to end the war across the pond. This was just my own little protest I guess..."
Never look back, never look back, never look back, she’s gone.
Can I take back, can I take back, can I take back what’s wrong?
If I let you, would you hang on to the words that you long for?
It’s a snake bite, just a small one, but lethal if left too long
A little late for all of us involved
A little take but hardly the windfall
A little shake all along the fault
A little late
You’re preaching, we’re seething, we’ll answer the call
Without you, we all say, we’d be better off
If we let you would you drop off or drop the bomb?
Like a snake bite, even small, you’re done and done.
Why do children pray when we don’t believe in Gods?
Why do adults play with other people’s lives?
We’ll never know the answers and if we ever find
An explanation, there’ll always be another question “why?”
Never look back, never look back, never look back, she’s gone.
Can I take back, can I take back, could I take back my wrongs?
If I let you, would you hang on to the words in my song
It’s a snake bite, just a small one, but the venom’s all gone.
